I do have a question. It is regarding the “letting go” part. I know that in my past…before I heard of anything to do with manifesting or law of attraction…..it was when I would totally forget about something, that it would then happen. But by the same token I keep reading that you have to stay focussed on your goals etc. I feel like if I just forget about them that they will not happen either? This is something I am struggling with all the time!! What exactly does “letting go” mean and how do I do it?

Excellent question.
Yes letting go is just as important as staying focused on your goal. I’ll go into great detail to explain this below but first, the cliff notes – think of it like this. You know those times when you are clingy, desperate and just have to have it now? That’s what repels what you want and doesn’t allow to bring in what you truly desire. I know its easier said than done, especially, for instance, if its a bill that needs to be paid or something really urgent needs to be accomplished. Been there done that!
Here is what I learned: You mediate, visualize, picture it using all possible submodalities and then after youre done focusing, you then let go. The right way is to make sure that you:
1. When thinking about your goal, if you feel negative about it or think ‘Oh forget it, its just not going to happen!’ If thoughts like that come into your mind, say ‘Cancel Cancel Cancel’ and immediately do something to brush it off (tricks such as imagining taking that thought/scene and crumbling it up like a piece of paper and then throwing it in an imaginary bin OR imagine the volume of those negative voices slowly decreasing into complete silence – tricks such as this have really helped me)
2. Its like this – when you DO think about the goal, attach the happiest and most positive vibration to it as much as possible and then you let go of it by saying anything like ‘I will now allow this to present itself in my life and so may it be’ and then STOP thinking about it. Its almost like it should have its time to be thought of and then you DO NOT allow yourself to think of it constantly every minute. Those minutes you dont spend time nagging over every detail is when you ALLOW the UNIVERSE to work out the best way to bring the solution/goal TO you.
There might be a better delivery system than you can possibly imagine.
And if you spend time worrying about it, it shows the Universe that you dont have faith.
Again I know for serious matters, it really is hard to follow this but believe me, with practice it really does get easier. Your brain is for you to train and create new stimuli, breaking old negative patterns that dont work for you.
Now as for Universal Laws, the important one related to your question is:
The Law Of Non-Resistance
No one fully understands the ways of the Universe so with this limited understanding and personal experience I can say that no matter how much you pray, dream, wish, send out your ideas, that does not mean you are going to receive. You need to match your inner state to the desired goal. How do you go about doing that? Firstly inject it with positive vibrations (one thing I do is go back and bring in a very happy memory. I allow it to stir those feelings of happiness and joy and then I stay in there in that moment. Take those ingredients of positivity and then vibe that with what you are visualizing. Im telling you that done consistently as frequently as you can, will not let you down. You will definitely start to see curious idiosyncrasies at least.)
Also remember to be as if, think as if, become as if, live as if, that goal is accomplished. It almost sounds like fake make believe I know. But this is what it means to be at a vibrational harmony with what you truly desire.
Release the resistance. If you find yourself falling into old patterns that are not serving you then tell yourself ‘Ok Im reacting. And reacting is a habit. Im going to respond. And responding means thinking’ Kind positive self talk is important. Especially when you find yourself going back to thinking about what it is you want. If theres desperation, tell yourself that you will quickly replace it with desired images/feelings and then stop thinking. It literally means going about your day and not giving it another thought.
You will know instinctively when you are clinging onto something and not letting go, releasing it, allowing it in. During the day, be aware. Watch how many times you are distracted and you go back to thinking when you should not be.
There is no set formula for everyone that says only think about your desired outcome these many times a day and for this duration. You have to figure that out for yourself and you will know, trust me on this, when you are not letting go. You will feel a tightness in your chest, a bit nervous, wound up, along the these lines. It is almost like perfecting the art of think, cut, move on!
If you feel better, I would even recommend designated times in a day you allow yourself to enjoy the sensations of visualizing whatever it is you desire and outside those times, strictly going about your schedule. Pushing it away saying to yourself ‘I needent worry about it. Its coming to me and I will let it be’. Again use your own words. Whatever resonates with you.
Another benefit I find from getting used to doing so certain times of your day is just that, you get used to it. IF you do it haphazardly, you will feel out of tune. I split tested this myself. I tried a week of each. No set times for meditating/visualizing and then set times for meditating/visualizing.
Also dont be hard on yourself if you find yourself worrying over whether you are letting go or not…its mental judo….distract yourself after affirming. Again this might seem contradicting. How can you say it is on its way to you and then also say you already have it. Think of it this way, you are conditioned to resist and not let go of something you want so badly, so you need to gently remind yourself ‘Hey its ok. Its on its way!’ And then move on by thinking of it as “it is already so”. Remember you will attract what you expect.
Think of it as a software programmer whos working on a program for you and in the mean while, you are working on the rest to make the program work by not constantly thinking about what the programmer is doing right? You keep yourself busy by staying open to answers and taking “inspired” action, not just any action. You prepare the platform for the program to work. Think of what you will do with the program right? Just like that. By wondering whether the programmers wasting time or not working on it the way YOU want him to, you are resisting the very thing you want. You will wear yourself out.
So with the right mix, which only you will know if you are over-doing or not, remember to enjoy what you desire as if it has already come to fruition.
