Let me give you a perfect example of how the subconscious mind works. When you turn on a computer, and begin to surf the net, you feel good because of the ease with which you could navigate from one site to another. Yet at the background, which is not within your conscious experience, are programs which determine the exact movements and workings of the computer.
In the same way, human actions and behaviors are determined by programs which have lodged into every human mind; and these programs are powerful enough to condition one’s behavior and even one’s life. But unlike in the case of the computer, these programs are powerful energies which may work for or against your success.
The basic law behind EFT is the law of attraction:
You may be surprised upon hearing about this “Law Of Attraction” and you may ask: “Is this another law of physics?”
The answer could be partly yes, and partly no.
Aside from the idea that everything is energy, EFT is also based on the idea of the law of attraction—it is this idea that the mind attracts what it thinks about most.
Our dominant thoughts have powerful gravitational pull which brings into our life what we think about most.
This is a law which governs the movement of our minds. It is not a theory but a law; and if it is a law, it is applicable to every mind in the universe. This is also applicable to our negative mental programs which have lodged themselves into the inner recesses of our mind. Your negative subconscious programs have the ability to attract into your life the bad things of life too, not just the good positive stuff. Thus, if you could not do away with these negative thoughts, you would not be able to maximize the effectiveness of EFT.
The Mind always gravitates towards your Dominant thought:
Here is the classic example which will further elucidate the gravitational pull of the mind and dominant thoughts:
If I say to you: “Don’t think of a flying red elephant!” The visual idea of a red flying elephant would enter your mind, despite my stern warning. It is because our minds work on ideas. If for example, I say, “I want a big house,” the dominant idea that comes into my mind is the idea of ‘My very self, wanting to have a house.”
But if I say to myself, “I am thankful that I have a beautiful house,” the dominant idea that comes into my mind is that of “Myself already having a beautiful house.”
Now if the mind cannot move away from the dominant thought, as most great writers say, the mind would likely linger in that general thought. The more it lingers, the more it attracts the realization of that idea. Now this is not a “hocus-focus” concept which has no basis on science. It is basically based on the law of attraction—the law which governs the whole universe—and the very foundation of EFT. Most of the great writers of the past always pointed to the attracting power of the mind. The reason for this is that our dominant thoughts are vibrating into the material universe as powerful energies which have the creative power to realize itself in reality. In fact, the famous writer, Andrew Matthews, wrote that “all the successful people know about the principle of the law of attraction,” and that “the most miserable people, I have come across with, would generally dispute that any such principle can work in their favor.”
