What is the Invisible Counselors Technique?
The Invisible Counselors Technique is a mental concept used for creative problem solving. The concept is that with strong visualization techniques a person can create their own council of whoever they wish to advise them within their own minds eye. The process involves focusing on a specific question or issue and then receiving answers and debate from the council as such persons would provide. For example if you wish to discuss matters of business strategy you might choose Sun Tsu, or one of the Presidents to sit on the council as well as successful business tycoons like Donald Trump. The people on your Invisible Counselors Technique team may be living or dead, and they do not even have to speak the same language. In fact you do not have to have any prior knowledge of these people to create your council, but many have seen that with constant use these visualizations can often take on their own traits and clear personalities. The technique was pioneered by Napoleon Hill in 1937 with his book “Think and Grow Rich”, this is still published and popular today though it has changed into a widely shared e-book and several YouTube video summaries. Hill famously held councils with such personalities as Lincoln, Aristotle, Edison, Newton, Plato and even Jesus himself. In fact Edison is said to have used a similar technique himself, admitting many times to falling asleep and “conversing” with others while in his dream state before being struck with a new idea or invention.
The key to understanding this Invisible Counselors Technique concept is that the council is entirely within the mind. Some look at it as a spiritual process by which you contact these personalities but only imagining them and their responses to your questions. Practicing the Invisible Counselors Technique requires little more than a desire and strong visualization skills. Though you would be able to attempt this without previous visualization experience it is advised that you have some visualization experience, so that you can get the maximum effect from your sessions.
There are three parts to the technique and it is very important that you focus on a specific desire or problem within each session rather than trying to solve multiple problems at the same time. This focus helps to keep both the answers relative and stops your mind wandering elsewhere so that you lose the benefits of your discussion.
How do you perform the Invisible Counselors Technique?
The first part to the process is to set yourself into a relaxed state and begin the visualization. You may or may not have experience with meditation but a quiet place where you can focus is essential even if you do not reach a meditative level. Visualization is picturing exactly what you want within your minds eye, and in this case you will need to imagine a board room. This can be a place you have visited previously, something casual like a dining room table or something more professional like a real board room. You could even use something like king Arthur’s round table, but the important part is to imagine the room itself and however many seats you will need for yourself and your council. Choose between 5-9 persons to sit on your council and imagine them entering and taking a seat. Imagine each person clearly, their features, clothing, and any quirks to their personality. The better your visualization of each person the more realistic your council will be and the better your answers. You can always make your first session simply an introduction and save any real questions for later if you just want to get used to the technique. Remember these people can be absolutely anyone, living or dead, real or fictional, anyone. Once your council is met you may address your chosen topic. Address your question to whichever person you want to her an answer from and go from there, imagine your debate between each person and their response. Keep an open mind and really consider any answers that may be brought up, ideally when your council session has ended you will have the answers you seek.
What are the benefits of the Invisible Counselors Technique?
The greatest benefit to using the Invisible Counselors Technique is that you can appreciate other peoples opinions or point of view without actually having to search them out. By using your minds eye technically you are only getting the opinions from yourself but your subconscious may have been hiding the answer until then. It is also possible that by putting yourself into a relaxed state that you are connecting spiritually to the Source Energy that guides you whereby your true path can be revealed. This way is a great way of making a conscious connection to your subconscious mind and desires. We may not always understand where our subconscious is leading us and the Invisible Counselors Technique is a good way of making those desires more obvious and known through the process of Visualization. Another great benefit is that no one has to know what you are doing or where the answer came from. It may seem silly to tell others that you got the answer from a fictional character or long dead poet but it is a very valid form of problem solving and should not be discounted simply because you may feel self conscious using it. It is thought that everyone’s psyche’s are one and this oneness can be accessed using the Invisible Counselors Technique.
Are there any dangers to performing the Invisible Counselors Technique?
The only dangers to be aware of with the Invisible Counselors Technique is that you may be surprised by the answers you are given. Each of these people exists only within the confines of your mind but they may still give you an unexpected response. You may have been wholly certain of your response until the council but using the opinions of others to bounce your thoughts off of is a commonly used method of problem solving. There is no way any physical danger can come to you simply by using this technique and since you are not in direct contact with the spiritual world you need not perform any protection as you will remain within the confines of your own psyche. The Invisible Counselors Technique may be controversial but it certainly is not dangerous.
