Are the Akashic Records accessible to intellectual Beings in Space and Time?
Every existent intellectual being could access the Akashic Records just like one would access a library. However, one should have an access card or library card to have access to every file available in a library. Similarly, the Akashic Records, although accessible to every intelligent living creature, could never be readily accessed by everyone in his/her present state of consciousness. One has to have— metaphorically speaking—the library ID to be privy to the Akashic Records. I believe that the identification card which we ought to have is that of meditation and prayer. Since the Akashic Records reside in the existential plane of Akasha, the only way to access it is by attuning ourselves to the frequency of the Akashic Plane of existence. Furthermore, the only way we could attune ourselves to the Akashic frequency is through the spiritual exercises of the prayer and meditation. In theory, we could access our own specific Akashic Record and the universal Akashic Records of the group wherein we belong. But we could only have a glimpse of the records of other individual beings if we have the spiritual gifts of prescience, clairvoyance and other special spiritual gifts.
The Akashic Records—Guarded by the Spiritual Keepers and Guardians
Just like in the case of the Books of Life and of Knowledge and Wisdom which have been guarded by angelic beings in Eden, the Akashic Records are similarly guarded by spiritual keepers or guardians. There is an energetic force field which protects and supports the records, securing it from all corruptive energetic forces, and insuring its preservation throughout the ages.
The Akashic Records—the book of life and of knowledge and wisdom combined
The Akashic Records contain the vital information about each individual and as such—it is the Book of Life. But it also contains all the imprints of energetic happenings in the eternal realms of spiritual existential planes, and as such—it could amply be called—the Book of Knowledge and Wisdom. On the one hand, the records contain the story of our life (past, present and future circumstances); they contain all our thought vibrations, emotional vibrations, and physical vibrations as we wade across the limited confines of space and time.
On the other hand, the records give us so much wisdom about the world, the universe, the spiritual world and the “Tao” and the historical purposiveness of everything. Indeed, knowing our past and future, while at the same time piercing into the deep truth of the divine, is tantamount to embracing so much wisdom.
The Akashic Records as a Specific Dimension of our Consciousness:
Our consciousness is uniquely spiritual in the sense that it has an aspect which contains the Akashic Records. Likewise our consciousness is spiritual in nature because it does not corrupt over the passage of and movement of time and space.
In the Platonic idea of consciousness, the soul is said to travel across the world of ideas (Akashic Plane of Existence), and behold all the knowledge available in that world as a prelude to its incarnation in a human body.
Similarly, in the Hindu Ontology, the human consciousness undergoes various cycles of incarnations necessary as purifying process in the ascent of human consciousness toward higher forms of existence.
Considering the above Platonic and Hindu concepts, we could say that human consciousness, before being incarnated into a body has pre-knowledge of all truths and wisdom. We could also surmise that at every new incarnation, consciousness includes a new dimension which contains all the Akashic knowledge deeply hidden in the recesses of the human consciousness. The mind which is another term for consciousness inherently contains a blue-print of the Akashic Records. Similarly, we could say that deep down into the recesses of our mind lies the Akashic wisdom and knowledge which we have unknowingly borne inside us from our past life.
Human consciousness is so unique that it has an element capable of beholding the spiritual dimensions. Our vivid dreams which we usually experience during deep sleep are proofs of the different dimensional capacities of the mind. Moreover, the capacity of our mind is so enormous that we are always left in awe as to the wondrous capability of the mind. On the one hand, the mind can go down to a base level, and live like a brute wallowing in its own instinctual satisfaction; and on another hand, the mind could rise up loftily to the spiritual level, piercing through the spiritual curtains of the Akasha and moving beyond to the realms of eternity.
The Akashic Records as beheld by Great Men
In the history of mankind, a lot of great people had accessed the Akashic Records. Through introspection, these people beheld the Akashic Plane, savored the wisdom and knowledge contained in that plane, and spoke to other people about the beauty of what they beheld in the Akashic Plane. Mahatma Gandhi, Paramahansa Yogananda, the Dalai Lama, Plato, Plotinus, Buddha and many other mystics had been often in contact with the Akashic Records.
In the Platonic point of view, this is what he called—recollection of the beauty and essences—beheld by the soul when the soul traveled through the world of ideas.
In other traditions, this piercing into the Akashic Plane of existence is called “illumination of the mind” or “enlightenment” wherein the mind, through the practice of meditation and introspection, see the Akashic Records and gained so much knowledge and wisdom about human existence. Great minds, after beholding the beauty and truth of the Akashic Records, could not help but speak of its beauty and truth to humanity.

The Akashic Records usually presuppose a belief in the Reincarnation
The Akashic Records usually entails a belief in reincarnation. Since it is believed that the Akashic Records of each soul contains all the past incarnations’ energetic imprints of a person, it is presupposed that each person underwent a series of past lives. Likewise, it is also presupposed that all these experiences from past lives are contained in the Akashic Records of each person. Moreover, it is presupposed that the evolution of a person does not only involve one life-time but a series of past lives; it involves a series of births and deaths as the soul unceasingly moves to a higher form of existence. The soul is eternal. It carries our consciousness. Each incarnation is a reincarnation of a soul in a new body. As the soul is reincarnated into a new body, the soul still carries the energetic imprints of the past incarnations deep within its consciousness. However, since these imprints are deeply imbedded, it requires a reawakening of that aspect or dimension of consciousness. In the Platonic standpoint, it requires a remembering or drawing out of inherent knowledge.
The Grasping of the Akashic Records requires Expansion of Consciousness
The Akashic Records are metaphorically called “records” because they contain an organized or chronological structure of the evolutionary development of a being. However, human consciousness could not readily wholly grasp the totality of the Akashic Records in one life-time because the records are so vast and enormous. Human consciousness has to be expanded to accommodate so enormous a record. In meditation, as in introspection, a person engenders the expansion of his consciousness. Through meditation, human consciousness is expanded enabling it to receive a bulkier chunk of the subtle knowledge and wisdom of the Akashic Records. The more a person expands his consciousness, the more he would gain wisdom and understanding; but the more a person shrinks his/her consciousness—by being smugly satisfied with instinctual matters, limiting his/her perspective to the narrow confines of the physical reality— the more it would be difficult for the consciousness to behold the everlasting universal truth.
Since we have a highly-confined and situated perspective owing to the finiteness of our human existence, we could only view the Akashic Records in a limited way. This is the main reason why different cultures, denominations, and people have different view of the Creator and Truth. This is because of the situatedness of our consciousness.
Furthermore, the Akashic record is not an exclusive possession of some group or denomination. It is accessible to all who are willing to expand their consciousness to accommodate more spiritual truth of life. The path to knowing the Akashic Records is the path toward wisdom. Anyone who seeks truth and wisdom is always on the right track if he moves toward the understanding of the beauty of the Akashic Truth. The Akashic Records cannot be totally hidden from everyone. Since human consciousness is spiritual, every person has that “Akashic” experience every once in a while. The only problem is that not all have developed that spiritual sensitivity to Akashic truth. Great souls have endeavored to access the Akashic Plane and achieved and possessed that spiritual sensitivity in their consciousness. They were able to expand their consciousness to accommodate a greater part of the Akashic Truth. Though it is very much our birthright to know the truth about our spiritual heritage, only very few attain a certain level of heightened sensitivity to Akashic Truth.
Who has benefited from the Akashic Records?
The Akashic Records are always there for our own benefit. But since the Akashic Records could only be had through heightened sensitivity of our consciousness, only a selected few were able to access it through sheer discipline in meditation and prayers. In the past, some people were able to access and behold the Akashic Records. Prophets, seers, and holy men have read the Akashic Records and have shared what they had seen to the common people. However, most people, who are busy with “maya” (illusion of the senses) didn’t even bother to listen to what the prophets were saying. Though some had heeded their voice and ended up beholding the Akashic Records, and thus benefited from the Akashic Records by living a virtuous and highly spiritual existence.
There are various schools of thought that have sprouted in the past, which claimed that they could initiate people to the divine truth. They manage to establish esoteric groups which have their own disciplinary rules aimed at freeing the consciousness of maya and leading it to the divine understanding of Akasha.
Throughout the ages, we have witnessed the rise of several people who were calling mankind to a higher state of existence. Prophets, Masters and Gurus in different places and time rose up from anonymity and spoke of the truth about the afterlife and about the existence of a world beyond our physical world. They spoke of knowledge and wisdom, which when followed, could lead to a higher mode of existence. In philosophy, they are called “ethical genius.” In other denomination or culture, they are called prophets, sages and wise men. Yet they have one thing in common, they spoke of truth (Akashic Truth) and of higher existence which is different from our earthly existence.
The Akashic Records are situated in the Akashic plane of existence. This plane is distinct from the physical and cosmic existence we have now. Yet the Akashic Plane touches the physical plane of existence and in the order of succession, it is the first plane when we enter the spiritual planes of existence. We could say that the mystics of the past and the prophets and seers of old had access this plane of existence because it is the primary plane to the spiritual world. In fact, I would say that it is the gateway to the divine.
It is the plane which allows physical beings to touch the existence of the Creator. The Akashic plane is not physical and the Akashic records are spiritual. To access it, one should have attained a certain attunement to the spiritual world. Any person who has accessed the Akashic Records always comes out “enlightened.” The mystics always appears to be in trance whenever they access the divine Akashic records, and they end up speaking of the ineffable universal truth of the Divine. The Akashic Records always lead to a greater understanding of life and of the Divine.
